OUR PROCESS – The 9 Steps

We believe there are 9 key steps to every project. Below is a step-by-step guide to how the process works. We will work with you through every step, to make sure you get the best possible results.

1. Let’s chat

Before we do anything, we start with a brief chat, on the phone or in person, where I will ask you a few questions about your project and to try and understand exactly what it is that you need.

The key to the success of any project is a strong client relationship. As each client is different, so is each project. We pride ourselves in listening to our client’s individual needs, whether they are Dubai based or elsewhere. Working on projects internationally is something we are very accustomed to.

We’ll discuss your desired budget, the design process, show previous projects and any other questions or concerns you may have.

2. Yes, let’s do it

If you feel you would like to work together and you have an existing site to visit, we will meet there and do a ‘site walk-through’. This gives us a clearer understanding of the projects and what it is you would like to achieve. Based on this we will give you a fee proposal. If you don’t have a site and it’s a new build/concept. We would meet again to get a detailed brief to prepare a fee proposal.

3. Brief & Concept Design

Once the design brief and fee have been agreed upon, we will work on interior concepts and architecture & landscape concepts if relevant.  This will consist of mood boards, look & feel images, some materials, and a few sketch layout options for some key areas. This will be ongoing until all concepts are approved by you the client.

4. Schematic, Design Development & 3D Renders

Once the interior concepts are approved, we develop the drawings to schematic level, which includes material & furniture selections so we can start with the 3D visuals. This will give a photo-realistic image of the space.

We then develop and issue the drawings and specifications to design development stage, along with material boards and the final 3D renders which are used for tender purposes. In the drawing and specifications package every detail is included such as custom joinery, cabinetry, proposed floor layouts, wall finishes, floor finishes, lighting, electrics, reflected ceilings, kitchens, bathrooms, furniture, lighting, fabrics and artwork (also known as FF&E). This makes pricing for tendering as accurate as possible. We do not do DD packages for Architecture nor Landscapes as we work on concepts only.

5. Tender process and the appointment of the Contractor

During the tender period, we are available to answer any design queries the bidders may have. This is both contractors and procurement agents. Once the tender process is complete and a contractor has been appointed. We work closely with them to ensure that the design is understood and not compromised and that the specified materials are used.

6. Construction Period

We attend weekly site meetings to answer all design queries and inspect all works on site.

7. Procurement of FF&E

On large-scale projects, we work with procurement agents who procure, negotiate discounts, handle shipment and install all FF&E items on site. On smaller-scale projects, we do this in-house.

8. Installing

Once construction is complete and the site is clean we oversee the installation of the soft FF&E items such as furniture, curtains, and lighting. The procurement agents and all our suppliers are experts at what they do and carry out every aspect of the installation with great care and attention to detail.

9. Styling

Styling is the final part of the design process, where we add accessories and art pieces to the spaces to give them depth and a sense of personality.
